A MESSAGE TO BOYS, by C. E. WALKER First Line: Keep upon your tongue pure speech Last Line: Make your life a power to bless. Subject(s): Advice; Messengers | ||||||||
Keep upon your tongue pure speech, In your thoughts allow no lust; Manly life is within your reach, Do not grovel in the dust. Pure in thought and warm in heart, Fight the wrong with all your might; In life's conflict bear your part, Daring always to do right. Be an active, earnest man, Always noble, trustful, true; Help another when you can, For thus helping strengthens you. Say, "I will," and say it strong, And when tempted, answer, "No." Love the pure and shun the wrong, And where duty calls you, go. In all work whate'er it be, Do your best and nothing less; Use your eyes the good to see; Make your life a power to bless. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...FILLING IN THE BLANKS; FOR CONSTANCE MERRITT by ELEANOR WILNER THE MESSAGE OF SETH; AN ORIENTAL TRADITION by DAVID MACBETH MOIR BELLMAN by ARTHUR GLYN PRYS-JONES THE MESSAGE by GEORGE WILLIAM RUSSELL THE SOUL'S ARMAGEDDON by WILLIAM SHARP SONG OF THE ARAUCANS DURING A THUNDER STORM by ROBERT SOUTHEY THE BUGLE by EDWARD FORRESTER SUTTON SAN GABRIEL ARCANGEL by AMELIA WOODWARD TRUESDELL |
