MY CASTLE, by ALMA G. WALLACE First Line: Last night I stood in the castle hall Last Line: My cot in the garret was flooded with sun. Subject(s): Courts & Courtiers | ||||||||
Last night I stood in the castle hall, Where the candles cast their eerie light, And saw the kings And their ladies, fair Cast their shadows into the passing night. I closed my eyes, as in a dream, Saw a young knight kneel to his queen; She raised her eyes all starry and blue That spoke untold messages Kissed by love's dew. The scene was changed, The time was right, The candles flickered, their work was done; My cot in the garret was flooded with sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...BOTHWELL: PART 4 by WILLIAM EDMONSTOUNE AYTOUN IN PHARAOH'S TOMB by HAYDEN CARRUTH JUSTICE LISTENS AT THE GATES OF BEAUTY by AIME CESAIRE FOR THE INVESTITURE by CECIL DAY LEWIS ELEGY ASKING THAT IT BE THE LAST; FOR INGRID ERHARDT, 1951-1971 by NORMAN DUBIE MY SISTER, THE QUEEN by EDWARD FIELD L,ENVOI: IN OUR TIME by ERNEST HEMINGWAY VASHTI by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON INTERRACIAL by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON DRAW THE SWORD, O REPUBLIC by EDGAR LEE MASTERS THE LOVE SONNETS OF PROTEUS: 60.
