THY CONQUERING NAME, by CHARLES WESLEY Poet Analysis Poet's Biography First Line: Jesus, my strength and righteousness Last Line: Faith in a dying lord. Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Jesus, my strength and righteousness, My Saviour and my King, Triumphantly Thy name I bless-- Thy conqu'ring name I sing. Thou, Lord, hast magnified Thy name; Thou hast maintain'd Thy cause; And I enjoy the glorious shame-- The scandal of Thy cross. Thou gavest me to speak Thy word, In the appointed hour; I have proclaim'd my dying Lord, And felt Thy Spirit's power. O let me have Thy presence still; Set as a flint my face, To show the counsel of Thy will, Which saves a world by grace. O let me never blush to own The glorious gospel word; Which saves a world through faith alone, Faith in a dying Lord. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
