OF LONELINESS, by NORMA R. WETHERED First Line: There's a well of loneliness in men Last Line: The words never reach -- the thought to pen -- Subject(s): Solitude; Loneliness | ||||||||
There's a well of loneliness in men The words never reach -- the thought to pen -- Feelings seep into our bitter well Inarticulate -- thoughts cannot tell. When joy and content walk by our side, A veil is spread -- its sorrow to hide -- Happiness passes -- deep -- deep -- we sink -- Of loneliness once again to drink. That well leads us down to endless pain, Unless by our strength -- we make it gain -- A place that loosens and stirs our sense, Clouds and releases -- now clear -- now dense.
