ALIEN, by JESSIE E. WILLIAMS First Line: I met my long - lost self today Last Line: I could not woo it back again! Subject(s): Self | ||||||||
I met my long-lost self today Within a wood where blossoms cling With languid grace to dogwood boughs -- Each petal like a white moth's wing! I could have touched it with my hand, So close it stood, lithe-limbed and free, But when I would have clasped it close It turned an alien gaze on me. One frightened look into my eyes -- One timid, wondering look -- and then Away it sped on wilding feet . . . I could not woo it back again! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A CAPELLA by JUAN FELIPE HERRERA AFTER LOOKING UP INTO ONE TOO MANY CAMERAS by HICOK.
