MOUNTAIN TOP, by MARY REEDER WINGARD First Line: The sky that you so loved has changed its gray Last Line: Oh, can you share the mountain top with me? Subject(s): Mountains; Hills; Downs (great Britain) | ||||||||
The sky that you so loved has changed its gray To that blue brilliancy you loved the best. Over the mountain's snow-embroidered crest A cloud flings out a plume as white as spray. Fresh from the snow drifts, shining far away, A breeze brings winter's welcomed gift of zest. Beloved, in the Country of the Blest, Can you not see the glory of this day? This beauty that, unchanged, is all around! How can I bear it, when you are not here? You breathe a new, a rarer atmosphere, Your feet are treading high, celestial ground, Your eyes envision more than I can see. Oh, can you share the mountain top with me? | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...CALIFORNIA SORROW: MOUNTAIN VIEW by MARY KINZIE CONTRA MORTEM: THE MOUNTAIN FASTNESS by HAYDEN CARRUTH GREEN MOUNTAIN IDYL by HAYDEN CARRUTH |
