I THE brook has a way to spend the day Lords and ladies never know, Going where it wants to go, Running where it wants to run, In the shadows, in the sun, Where the little minnows play, That's the way to spend the day, Says the brook. II The bird has a way to spend the day Different from the brook and you, Flying where the skies are blue, Over turrets, chimneys, winging All its heart in small songs flinging, Every note and twist is play, That's the way to spend the day, Says the bird. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE THREE CHILDREN by JOSEPHINE JACOBSEN CHILDREN SELECTING BOOKS IN A LIBRARY by RANDALL JARRELL COME TO THE STONE ... by RANDALL JARRELL THE LOST WORLD by RANDALL JARRELL A SICK CHILD by RANDALL JARRELL CONTINENT'S END by ROBINSON JEFFERS ON THE DEATH OF FRIENDS IN CHILDHOOD by DONALD JUSTICE THE POET AT SEVEN by DONALD JUSTICE CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS by ANNETTE WYNNE |
