THE MILKY WAY, by ANNETTE WYNNE First Line: Once there was a little dream Last Line: That's hanging up there still. Subject(s): Cosmology; March (month); Night; Sky; Stars; Bedtime | ||||||||
ONCE there was a little dream That mounted to the sky; It rode upon a water beam And climbed the star way high. But when it wanted to come home Along the silver track The lights had all gone out, and O! It never could get back. And you may look now any night, And see it if you will, A gauzy milky veil of light, That's hanging up there still. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE BREATH OF NIGHT by RANDALL JARRELL HOODED NIGHT by ROBINSON JEFFERS NIGHT WITHOUT SLEEP by ROBINSON JEFFERS WORKING OUTSIDE AT NIGHT by DENIS JOHNSON POEM TO TAKE BACK THE NIGHT by JUNE JORDAN COOL DARK ODE by DONALD JUSTICE POEM TO BE READ AT 3 A.M by DONALD JUSTICE ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT by BOB KAUFMAN CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS by ANNETTE WYNNE |
