First Line: Doth it not seem as tho' his life were vain
Last Line: Tho' david's lineage lies in dust supine!
Alternate Author Name(s): Cayzer, Charles
Subject(s): David (d. 962 B.c.)

Doth it not seem as tho' His life were vain,
Since they for whom His Gospel was proclaim'd
In scornful incredulity remain?—
While those, whom 'heirs of righteousness' He named,
Press'd pitiless where The Light on Calvary flamed!—
Who still await a Prince of David's line,
Tho' David's lineage lies in dust supine!
