LOVE IS A BOG, by

LOVE is a bog, a deep bog, and a wide bog;
Love is a clog, a great clog, and a close clog;
'Tis a wilderness to lose ourselves,
And a halter 'tis to noose ourselves:
Then draw dun out of the mire,
And throw the clog i' th' fire.
Keep in the kings high-way
Sober, and you cannot stray.
If you admire no female elf,
The halter may go hang itself.
Drink wine and be merry, for love is folly,
And dwells in the house of melancholy.
