My father kept a horse and my mother kept a mare, My brother kept a dog and my sister kept a hare, Had a ride from the horse, a foal from the mare, Pleasure with the dog and sport with the hare. My father kept a bull and my mother kept a cow, My brother kept a boar and my sister kept a sow, Had beef from the bull and a calf from the cow, Had bacon from the boar and pigs from the sow. My father kept a buck, my mother kept a doe, My brother kept a tup, my sister kept a ewe, Had venison from the buck, fawn from the doe, Had mutton from the tup, lamb from the ewe. My father kept a cock, my mother kept a hen, My brother kept a robin, my sister kept a wren, Had chickens from the cock, eggs from the hen, Had young ones from the robin, fed by the wren.
