OUR EVER PRESENT GUIDE, by ANONYMOUS First Line: "jesus, the lord of glory died" Last Line: "beloved, obey'd, adored" Subject(s): Jesus Christ | ||||||||
Jesus, the Lord of glory, died, That we might never die; And now He reigns supreme, to guide His people to the sky. Weak though we are, He still is near, To lead, console, defend; In all our sorrow, all our fear, Our all-sufficient Friend. From His high throne in bliss, He deigns Our every prayer to heed; Bears with our folly, soothes our pains, Supplies our every need. And from His love's exhaustless spring, Joys like a river come, To make the desert bloom and sing, O'er which we travel home. O Jesus, there is none like Thee, Our Saviour and our Lord; Through earth and heaven exalted be, Beloved, obey'd, adored. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GREEN CHRIST by ANDREW HUDGINS MEDITATION ON SAVIORS by ROBINSON JEFFERS COMPANIONSHIP by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK TO A WREN ON CALVARY by LARRY LEVIS THE TRANSFIGURATION by EDWIN MUIR SOUNDS OF THE RESURRECTED DEAD MAN'S FOOTSTEPS (#3): 1.
