THANK GOD FOR FOOLS, by ANONYMOUS First Line: Thank god for fools - for men who dare to dream Last Line: Theirs - the requiem of the unafraid Subject(s): Courage; Valor;bravery | ||||||||
Thank God for fools!for men who dare to dream Beyond the lean horizon of their days; Men not too timid to pursue the gleam To unguessed lands of wonder and amaze. Thank God for fools! The trails that ring the world Are dark with blood and sweat where they have passed. There are the flags of every crag unfurled; Theirsashes and oblivion at last. Thank God for fools!abused, of low estate. We rear our temples on the stones they laid; Ours is the prize their tired souls might not wait; Theirsthe requiem of the unafraid. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...UNLESS IT WAS COURAGE by MARVIN BELL THE QUALITY OF COURAGE by STEPHEN VINCENT BENET ON THE OREGON COAST; FOR WILLIAM STAFFORD by ROBERT BLY WORDS WITH WALLACE STEVENS by ROBERT BLY BUFFALO CLOUDS OVER THE MAESTRO HOON by NORMAN DUBIE A SONG OF COURAGE by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON THE AUDACIOUS by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON OH, THE WATER by DORIANNE LAUX TIS A LITTLE JOURNEY by ANONYMOUS |
