WILLIE'S RECITATION, by ANONYMOUS First Line: To do what you can Last Line: And another of stone Subject(s): Fortune;labor & Laborers | ||||||||
TO DO what you can As well as you can, Is a mighty good plan For 'most any man. To work all the day, To work every day, Is the only sure way Of getting your pay. If I work all the day And give up my play, I surely shall climb To fortune some time. On that distant day I'll not want to play; I'll only keep climbing all of the time. When fortune is ripe I'll reap what I've sown: A column of type And another of stone. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...AFTER WORKING SIXTY HOURS AGAIN FOR WHAT REASON by HICOK.
