UNEXPECTED FORTUNE by ABUL QASIM OF SILVES

First Line: I MET THE ONE I LOVED
Last Line: AND HEARD THE VOICE OF GOD.

I met the one I loved
(But she my sickness proved),
And ventured to exclaim
A greeting in her name.

She, who so scornfully
Till then had turned from me,
Most generously now
Rained kisses on my brow.

So Moses in his days
Beheld a bush ablaze;
He sought a burning rod,
And heard the voice of God.
