DANAIDES: THE MARRIAGE OF HEAVEN AND EARTH by AESCHYLUS

First Line: THE HOLY HEAVEN LONGS TO THRUST THE EARTH
Last Line: PERFECT THEIR FRUITS. JOINT CAUSE OF ALL AM I.

THE holy Heaven longs to thrust the Earth,
And Earth, for love, would make her marriage-bed.
Rain-showers falling from the bridegroom Heaven
Impregnate Earth, who brings to birth for men
Grass for the flocks and the Earth-mother's corn.
And from the shining stream of rain the trees
Perfect their fruits. Joint cause of all am I.
