TO ARTEMIS by ANACREON

First Line: TO ARTEMIS I KNEEL, WHOSE BOW
Last Line: HAVE LEARNT THE GENTLER WAY.

TO Artemis I kneel, whose bow
Finds the stag and lays him low,
The Queen whom beasts obey --
O child of Zeus, his golden daughter,
From Lethaeus whirling water
Thine eyes on men brave-hearted rest
With joy; for these thou shepherdest
Have learnt the gentler way.
