Isn't it funny -- this fight over money?
That people will quarrel and haggle and struggle
Till lawyers and judges and courts get it all;
How country fights country and nation fights nation
And princes fight paupers all over creation.
Isn't it funny?

Isn't it queer -- this battle with years?
The fountain of youth we're continually seeking,
As old age comes creeping while humans are weeping,
Deploring the lost opportunities gone
Beyond our recalling, as life marches on --
Isn't it queer?
