BOREAL SONG by JEAN ANDERSON

First Line: UPON THIS WINTER NIGHT A FLOATING ARCH
Last Line: THE PLAYER DRAWS THE BOW ACROSS THE STRINGS!
Subject(s): WINTER;

Upon this winter night a floating arch
Low-spans the North, and lightly tosses high
A gleaming splendor like the Viking's march
On Woten's buoyant bridge across the sky;
Again the fluent flame darts high, as though
It signalled to Valhalla's land of light,
And now the far-flung airy streamers glow
With mingled tints in rare prismatic flight ...
Then lo, Aurora's boreal beauty sings;
The player draws the bow across the strings!
