A FRESHET by ANTIPHILUS OF BYZANTIUM

First Line: O HOTSPUR TORRENT, CRESTED HIGH IN AIR
Last Line: A BASTARD FROM A LAWFUL STREAM FULL WELL.

OHOTSPUR torrent, crested high in air,
Why do you cut in twain a traveller's road?
No lucent wave fit for the Nymphs you bear,
Drunk with your drawings from a thunder-cloud;
I'll see you shrivel yet -- the sun can tell
A bastard from a lawful stream full well.
