NOONTIDE REST by ANTIPHILUS OF BYZANTIUM

First Line: TALL OAK, WHO SPREAD ON HIGH YOUR SHADY BOUGHS
Last Line: PROTECT ME ALSO FROM THE HOT SUN'S BLAZE.
Subject(s): REST;

TALL oak, who spread on high your shady boughs
Above men sheltering from the naked sun,
Close as a roof of tiles -- wood-pigeons' house,
Home of cicadas, canopy at noon --
Here as I lie beneath your leafy sprays
Protect me also from the hot sun's blaze.
