NIGHT WEPT! by HALLIE ARLUND

First Line: AS SHE FOLDED HER DARK WINGS ABOUT HER
Last Line: TO BRUSH THEM AWAY.
Subject(s): NIGHT; BEDTIME;

As she folded her dark wings about her,
Night must have wept quietly, silently,
For this morning, as I glanced
From out my window-pane,
I saw tears, shy and tender,
Sparkling from grass-blade tops --
Glistening -- waiting
For the cool morning wind
To brush them away.
