Ah, sweet trembling violet, The wind caught you in his embrace, Whirled you to ecstasy, and set You down, shaken, in a lonely place. As you lay spent and in a daze, He swept a pale rose into his fold, And recklessly spiralled in a maze: The rose bowed proudly and lost her hold. Alas! She fell crushed to the earth; The wind soared away and over, Hid in a cloud, chuckling with mirth.
