EMBLEMS OF LOVE: 43. ALL GRASP, ALL LOSE by PHILIP AYRES

First Line: ONE AT A TIME'S ENOUGH, ONE PUSS PURSUE
Last Line: THEN GAPE, AND STARE, AND WONDER WHERE THEY'RE GONE.
Subject(s): ANIMALS; DOGS; HUNTING; LOVE; HUNTERS;

ONE at a time's enough, one puss pursue.
Some greedy silly coxcombs I have known
Bobb'd finely when they slip their dogs at two,
Then gape, and stare, and wonder where they're gone.
