RAIN ON FALL NIGHTS by MILDRED TELFORD BARNWELL

First Line: IT RAINED THE NIGHT WE BURIED HIM
Last Line: LEAVING SOME ROOM FOR LAUGHTER?
Subject(s): GRIEF; RAIN; SORROW; SADNESS;

It rained the night we buried him
And many nights thereafter;
While I, tears purging my poor sould,
Knew I was done with laughter.

Last night I could not sleep at all
But vowed to be resigned hereafter . . .
Will tears soon purge, now Fall rains fall,
Leaving some room for laughter?
