The stars are hiding when the night is spent, For dawn is riding rosy-footed hours. The bird-songs fill once more the crimson tent, And day begins in sunshine, rain or showers. A morning haze now veils the trees' design, Long shafts of light spread golden verities, They make the darkened little spaces shine, And join with rhythm earth's own harmonies. The hills exulting at approaching day, Winged clouds like gauze are flying through the air, And amber daylight strews her mellow way With growing, flaming beauty everywhere. The dawn's ephemeral glow is soon outdone By startling brilliancy of regal sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE OWL (1) by ALFRED TENNYSON THE FISHER'S BOY by HENRY DAVID THOREAU PRAYER TO THE VIRGIN OF CHARTRES by HENRY BROOKS ADAMS DEATH AND THE LADY; THEIR BARGAIN TOLD AGAIN by LEONIE ADAMS |
