RECOGNITION by SUSIE MONTGOMERY BEST

First Line: WE MET THAT EVENING AT THE DANCE
Last Line: AND YOU WERE LOVELY GUINEVERE.
Subject(s): DANCING & DANCERS;

We met that evening at the dance,
And some one named us each to each,
As strangers who had never met,
But lo! as one held in a trance
I felt my spirit strive to reach
A life on other stages set.

I knew I loved you in some past,
Hark! clang of arms! A dagger's thrust!
The veil rolled off and all was clear,
The mystery was solved at last,
For I was Lancelot of the joust,
And you were lovely Guinevere.
