now Samuel was dead all of Israel did the rites for him & buried him in Ramah his own city & Saul had put away the ones that spoke with ghosts the shamans he sent them from the country & the Philistines all came together camped in Shunem Saul & Israel together in Gilboa & when Saul saw the army of the Philistines he was afraid his heart was trembling when he called to Yahveh Yahveh would not answer not by dreams & not by oracles & not by seers then Saul told his servants @3find me a woman who can speak with ghosts that I can go to make her sound her shaman bag can speak through her@1 his servants said @3well yes there is a woman mistress of the shaman bag at Endor@1 & Saul disguised himself he changed his clothes he went & two men went with him at night they came to where she was Saul said to her @3show me divinings sound your bag raise up for me the one I name@1 the woman said to him @3well yes you know what Saul has done you know he banished those who speak with ghosts the shamans yes@1 she said @3why must you lay a trap for me cause me to die@1 Saul swore to her by Yahveh @3as sure as Yahveh lives no one will punish you for this thing@1 then the woman said @3who should I bring you@1 & he said @3bring up Samuel & when the woman saw Samuel she cried her voice was loud she spoke to Saul she said WHY HAVE YOU TRICKED ME YOU ARE SAUL he said to her the king @3don't be afraid what did you see@1 the woman told him @3I saw gods ascending from the earth saw elohim@1 he said to her @3what form is he@1 she said @3an old man comes up covered with a mantle@1 & Saul perceived that it was Samuel Saul stooped his face was to the ground he bowed himself Used with the permission of Copper Canyon Press, P.O.
