ON TURNING A STONE by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN

Poet Analysis

First Line: TROLLS AND PIXIES UNBEKNOWN
Last Line: SCARED TO ROUT BY SHINING SUN.
Subject(s): SUPERNATURAL;

Trolls and pixies unbeknown
Lodged beneath a sunken stone!
Their malevolence makes scream
Children startled in a dream.

O their hundred flickering eyes
Dazzled with day's enterprise --
Skimble-skamble black they run
Scared to rout by shining sun.
