First Line: THE ROSE COMPLAINED, HER FRAGRANCE FLED
Last Line: AND THERE FOREVERMORE WAS LIVING.

The rose complained, her fragrance fled,
Ah, far too swiftly it was going--
The lovely scent that spring was giving.

And then to comfort her I said,
Her fragrance through my songs was flowing,
And there forevermore was living.
