THE CONGREGATION by GAMALIEL BRADFORD

First Line: THE GHOSTS OF NIGHT'S LONG HOURS DEPART
Last Line: TO DISSIPATE GREAT SORROWS.
Subject(s): GRIEF; SORROW; SADNESS;

The ghosts of night's long hours depart
In congregation dreary,
And leave my sorrow-trampled heart
Intolerably weary.

But chirpings bright in dewy wood
Foretell divine tomorrows,
And little birds are very good
To dissipate great sorrows.
