MATRIMONIAL MELODIES: 4. AMPLE by BERTON BRALEY

First Line: WHY SHOULD I BUY A DINNER JACKET?
Last Line: THE OLD ONE DID ALL RIGHT FOR ME!
Subject(s): OLD AGE;

Why should I buy a dinner jacket?
The old one's good enough for me;
I cannot see why I should sack it,
It fits me still, you must agree.

My figure still is—almost—slender
The way it was at twenty-three;
That coat may lack its pristine splendor
But it is good enough for me.

It may not have each pleat and placket
That present fashion may decree,
But gosh, it's still a dinner jacket
And plenty good enough for me!

Yes, yes, I'll roll it up and pack it
With my old junk. But I can't see
Why I should buy a dinner jacket,
The old one did all right for me!
