Some fellows plead for just one of your glances Asking to play with you, once in a while, Others implore for occasional chances When they may bask in the light of your smile. That's fair enough, they are modest in pleading; I'm a bit different; constantly I'm Making it plain to youam I succeeding? All that I'm asking is all of your time! "Give me a thought, now and then," say your wooers, "I can't expect such an awful lot more." I don't resemble your other pursuers; "Think of me only," is what I implore. Think of me night-times and think of me daytimes; All of my mind with your glamour is fraught, So in your quiet, your dull or your gay times All that I'm asking is all of your thought. Others may plead for a share of affection Asking for only a bit of your heart Though it be merely the tiniest section I want the whole of it, not just a part. All that I ask for is all of your leisure All of your time and your love andgee whiz, What I desire is beyond any measure. All that I ask for is all that there is. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...SMALL BEGINNINGS by CHARLES MACKAY NOT TO BE MINISTERED TO by MALTBIE DAVENPORT BABCOCK FUTILITY by CHARLOTTE BLAISING A CANTO OF KHANS by BERTON BRALEY ASTROPHEL'S SONG OF PHILLIDA AND CORYDON by NICHOLAS BRETON TO EDWARD FITZGERALD by ROBERT BROWNING COUNTRY FELLOWS AND THE ASS; ABSURDITY OF ATTEMPTING TO PLEASE ALL MEN by JOHN BYROM ON WORKS OF MERCY AND COMPASSION; PROOFS OF TRUE RELIGION by JOHN BYROM |
