WHITE BIRCHES by MARY BRADLEY BRAMHALL

First Line: AGAINST THE UPPER DARKNESS - THE DARK PINES
Last Line: ON THIS MORNING OF SILVER RAIN.
Subject(s): BIRCH TREES; FIELDS; PINE TREES; RAIN; TREES; PASTURES; MEADOWS; LEAS;

Against the upper darkness -- the dark pines,
Against the lower lightness -- the soft green
Of meadows newly rained upon --
Your whiteness stands out
With an unexpected loveliness
On this morning of silver rain.
