THE THREE PLEASURES by JULIEN AUGUSTE PELAGE BRIZEUX

First Line: WELL TO THINK, TO WRITE WITH EASE
Last Line: PLUNGE IN FLAMES OF EACH COMBINED.
Subject(s): PLEASURE; GOD; LOVE; PATRIOTISM;

WELL to think, to write with ease
Verses that the hearers please,
Three delights of mind be these.

God to love, your land, your dame,
These the soul's three joys I name,
Plunge it in this triple flame.

Dance, and sounds of horns afar,
Feasts and concords soft and rare,
These three joys of body are.

Joys of body, soul, and mind,
All are for our wealth designed,
Plunge in flames of each combined.
