WHAT WINTER FLOODS, WHAT SHOWERS OF SPRING by EMILY JANE BRONTE

Poet Analysis

Subject(s): MEMORY; TIME;

WHAT winter floods, what streams of spring
Have drenched the day,
And yet beneath that speeding ring
Unmoved and undiscovered lay

The mute remembrancer of crime,
Long lost, concealed, forgot for years,
It comes at last to cancel time,
And waken unavailing tears.
