MY hope sprang like a fountain, in the night, And, lo! where on the yesterday The desert burned in arid sway, A refuge grassed and palmed for my delight. Thus, soon around me to the restful shade, Came travellers, who erst did speed The camel past in utmost need, And grateful sighs their parasangs delayed.
