TWO HERITAGES by MARY BUIRGY

First Line: SOMEONE LEFT A WILLFUL WISH TO ME
Last Line: THAT WILLFUL WISH IS WORTH THE PAIN.
Subject(s): WISHES;

Someone left a willful wish to me,
A wish to dance beneath the night
While tomtoms drum a heathen chant
And stars look dim by firelight.

And someone left a body, frail
As misty clouds of Springtime rain.
I have them both. I do not sigh.
That willful wish is worth the pain.
