THE WANDERER: 5. IN HOLLAND: FATIMA by EDWARD ROBERT BULWER-LYTTON

Poet Analysis

First Line: A YEAR AGO THY CHEEK WAS BRIGHT
Last Line: WHEN I TALK IN MY DREAMS?
Subject(s): NETHERLANDS; TRAVEL; HOLLAND; DUTCH PEOPLE; JOURNEYS; TRIPS;

A YEAR ago thy cheek was bright,
As oleander buds that break
The dark of yonder dells by night
Above the lamp-lit lake.

Pale as a snowdrop in Cashmere
Thy face to-night, fair infant, seems.
Ah, wretched child! What dost thou hear
When I talk in my dreams?
