LAST REVELATION by WINIFRED ADAMS BURR

First Line: WITHIN THIS STRANGE TENEBROUS SHELL
Last Line: AND DEEP-SEQUESTERED SOUL OF HIM.
Subject(s): BODIES; DEATH; LIFE; SOUL; DEAD, THE;

Within this strange tenebrous shell
Where alone each man must dwell
The lantern of his spirit glows
But faintly through its flowing rose
And alabaster domicile,
Bent and blended to his will;

But when extinguished is the flame,
See the shell itself proclaim
Sculptured answer to his grief
Frozen into stern relief,
Last revelation of that dim
And deep-sequestered soul of him.
