TO AN EVOLUTIONIST by RICHARD EUGENE BURTON

First Line: GOOD, PROBING FRIEND, I ACCEPT YOUR VIEW
Last Line: WE BOTH MAY BE ANGELS, BY AND BY.
Subject(s): ANGELS; EVOLUTION;

GOOD, probing friend, I accept your view;
We are apes, time-mellowed, you and I;
But you stop half-way, -- for if such be true,
We both may be angels, by and by.
