In Florida at dusk Tall men play banjos. Their tunes wail and moan and soothe Far into the night. On the seashore The wind brings an aroma from the tropics. Here is the fragrance of magnolia From trees that have grown immemorially. Lights are in the Casino tonight, Bathers are on the shore. Calm, cool content follows the regular susurrus Of palm leaf fans And soft, soothing voices. I hear the persuasive tones Of banjo and violin and voice Mingling with the sepia silhouette Of three tall men against the moon. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A GAGE D'AMOUR by HENRY AUSTIN DOBSON ON THE DEATH OF SIR THOMAS WYATT by HENRY HOWARD INACCESSIBILITY IN THE BATTLEFIELD by EDMUND CHARLES BLUNDEN THE LOVE SONNETS OF PROTEUS: 26.
