THE SCARLET FEATHER by HAZEL RAWSON CADES

First Line: DID YOU THINK I'D FOLLOW YOU
Last Line: IF YOU SHOULD TURN -- AND FOLLOW ME.
Subject(s): RED (COLOR);

Did you think I'd follow you
As your small gray shadows do?
Did you not know that I must run
Alive and laughing, in the sun?

That sometimes I must even wear
A scarlet feather in my hair?
A feather that were plain to see
If you should turn -- and follow me.
