APPLE-BLOSSOMS by KATHARINE CARASSO

First Line: MY DREAM OF APPLE-BLOSSOMS HAS COME TRUE
Last Line: THIS DAY ARE DREAMS OF LONG-ENDURING SPRING.
Subject(s): APPLE BLOSSOMS;

My dream of apple-blossoms has come true,
And nothing can distort the vision now
That half the universe is dipped in blue,
And Pan plays dithyrambs on every bough.
My dream will linger after meadow, hill,
And prairie flaunt their needlepoint array.
And long thereafter -- when the apples will
Be swept by fierce autumnal winds away.

The winds may drive the petals to the street --
And they, like lifeless butterflies, can lie
Upon the pavements -- for imprudent feet
To trample them; but never will they die
In folds of memory ... The dreams they bring
This day are dreams of long-enduring spring.
