OUT FROM PARADISE by MARY JANE CARR

First Line: THOUGH I WOULD NOT QUARREL WITH JUSTICE
Last Line: ADAM AND EVE.
Subject(s): ADAM & EVE; BIBLE; EVE;

Though I would not quarrel with justice,
My human heart must grieve
For my poor evicted ancestors,
Adam and Eve....
How they went out from Paradise,
Startled and sick of mind,
Dreading to face the path ahead,
Fearing to look behind;
Oh, terrible world that leaped at them!
Be still, my heart, believe
That he clasped her hand, and she comforted him --
Adam and Eve.
