THE VOICE by ESTHER TROWBRIDGE CATLIN

First Line: I HEARD A VOICE AT EARLY MORNING SAY
Last Line: "GIVE ME THIS DAY!"
Subject(s): GUESTS; VOICES; VISITING;

I heard a Voice at early morning say,
"Be glad today!
Let go your restless planning and your care,
Put off these burdens that your shoulders bear;
It was not meant that you should toil in tears
And lose the sweetness of these few short years,
Look up, there is an easier, happier way.
Be glad today!"

I heard a Voice at early morning say,
"Give me this day!
No service from your hand do I request,
Only a place within your heart as guest.
While others toil, I call you to my feet.
Tomorrow, stronger, you can rise to meet
The duties that await you in the way.
Give me this day!"
