As I look all around me and wonder Just what the New Year holds, I hear a Voice saying, "Fear Not"; And I know it's the One who molds The lives of men, and their destiny. I am afraid to travel alone The rough, rugged pathway I trod; Yet I will have sure, safe council, If I will but listen to God. I am so weak and sinful, And know not the best thing to do; But I have a Friend who is loyal, I have a Friend who is true; And when I would fail Him and falter, When temptations spring up anew; I list to the Voice above As it tells me of Jesus' love; And I know I am safe, as I go my way Living the New Year, day by day. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE AWAKENING by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON CLAY BISON IN A CAVE by CLARENCE MAJOR SONNET TO ALISA ROCK by JOHN KEATS A PIPER by JAMES SULLIVAN STARKEY LETTICE by KATHERINE HARRIS BRADLEY TO A PHOTOGRAPHER by BERTON BRALEY |
