LEAVES IN THE WIND by LUCILE CHANDLER

First Line: LEAVES IN THE WIND FLY NORTH, FLY SOUTH
Last Line: UNDYING!
Subject(s): LEAVES;

Leaves in the wind fly North, fly South
Fly East and West, for the summer's ended.
In hollows and underfoot they fall --
Earth-blended.

Thoughts of the poet flutter free
With words for wings -- fleet, Time-defying,
Then rest in receptive hearts, new-born --
Undying!
