BIT BY BITTER by EDWARD RALPH CHEYNEY

First Line: HIS HAIR WAS SO SPLENDIDLY FLAMING
Last Line: HOT WORDS THAT HE SPOKE.
Subject(s): HAIR;

His hair was so splendidly flaming
I'd not be denier;
His mind was brilliant past taming
And set it on fire.

But now he is bald and much older,
And only a smoke
Of moustache reveals that there smoulder
Hot words that he spoke.
