- AND I, TOO! by EDNA CLAIBORNE

First Line: EXCUSE MY TRITENESS, FELLOWMEN
Last Line: AGAINST A WINTER SKY!

Excuse my triteness, fellowmen,
For I'm about to prate
Upon a time-worn theme, still I
Am here to humbly state
That I, too, love to see a tree
Against a winter sky!

But I'll not rhapsody with words
Like "filigree" and "lace" --
Perhaps I'd best just heave a sigh
And state within this space
That I, too, love to see a tree
Against a winter sky!
